Karma Chokor Dechen Nunnery is within easy walking distance of the village of Rumtek, located 1km from the Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre main gate towards Ranipool on the Ranipool-Rumtek-Sang Road. Travellers coming from Gangtok should ask for a shared taxi to the Ranipool “zero” and then change to another shared taxi to Rumtek (unless they book a direct private taxi for the whole distance). Most taxi drivers will drop you at the “Rumtek Ani Gompa” if you ask them (on the way to Rumtek). Tourist hotels are readily available in Rumtek village for those wishing to stay nearby.
