Information for Visitors

You are very welcome to visit KCD Nunnery and attend puja (prayers). Please note that shoes are prohibited in the Gompa, though photography is permitted, as long as it is not disruptive to the prayers. Maintaining silence is important unless you are participating in the prayers. You may sit for part or all of the puja. Donations and Tsog (food) offerings for the shrine are gratefully accepted, as they support the materials used in prayer services and the general upkeep of the nunnery.

Generally, the nunnery conducts two daily puja practices, with longer ceremonies arranged for special occasions based on the Tibetan calendar (click here for the calendar of events). Some of these rituals can extend throughout an entire day or span several days.

The nuns are typically busy with classes, cooking, making torma, and other duties between the morning and evening pujas (unless there is a full-day ceremony). Senior nuns will always try to be available to meet and talk with you, but this is subject to their other commitments, such as caring for the younger nuns or attending funeral rites. It is advisable to inquire about their availability and consider booking a time in advance to have a longer meeting.
